Dr. Shinichi Ikeda (Project Assistant Professor) from our laboratory has received the Best Presentation Award at the 54th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Immunology. The awarded presentation, entitled “The role of immune cells in the choroid of the eye: Mast cells as regulators of myopia,” reported our findings on the involvement of choroidal mast cells in myopia progression.

This study identifies the choroid as a previously unrecognized niche for mast cells and highlights novel functions of mast cells, thereby broadening the scope of immunological research. The content was highly evaluated and selected for the award.
