We are pleased to announce that Dr. Yohei Tomita, a Senior Lecturer in our laboratory, received the 10th Bayer Retina Award at the 79th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Clinical Ophthalmology Society.

He was recognized for his research titled, “Elucidation of the Mechanisms of DNA Damage in the Retina and Exploration of Novel Therapeutic Targets for Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD).” This study analyzes the molecular and cellular changes caused by retinal DNA damage, aiming to gain a new understanding of the pathophysiology of AMD and identify novel therapeutic targets.
